Frequently asked Questions

Q What will it cost me to own a KCDC franchise store?
A The cost of a store is dependant on its current trading profit and future earning potential. As these differ from store to store, it is difficult to give exact details without relating it directly to the particular store. However as an indication, franchise stores will range from $100,000 to $1,000,000.

Q Is there potential for future earnings growth?
A Yes. All stores are experiencing current increases in turnover. Also, after a period of time, each new Franchisee will be given the exclusive opportunity to operate a mobile Pick-Up & Delivery Service in their protected territory. NB. There are additional capital outlays for an appropriate sign written vehicle and incidentals. These can be easily quantified for you upon application. This additional service will aid in future growth targets.

Q Am I required to learn how to dry clean clothes?
A No. All cleaning is performed for the Franchisees, by the Franchisor, for a set fee. Franchisees are taught basic fundamentals so that they are equipped to answer any customer queries, however they do not need to perform the technical aspects of dry cleaning.

Q Are there any ongoing payments to KCDC?
A Yes. There is a monthly royalty fee of 7% and a marketing contribution of 3% of gross sales.

Q What is the duration of the franchise agreement?
A The initial term is 5 years, with a right of renewal for a further 5 years.

Q What are the ideal attributes of a KCDC Franchisee?
A Each Franchisee should:

  • Have a satisfactory credit rating.
  • Have a positive attitude and warm interpersonal skills.
  • Be prepared to devote ones talents to the operation of the store.
  • Be able to work and/or manage, within the guidelines, to a proven system.

A dry cleaning business is a ‘low impact’ family oriented business. They thrive under the operations of a husband and wife team, but can also work under management with relatively careful supervision.

Q Can I sell my franchise?
A Yes. You may sell your franchise at any time, subject to satisfying the terms and conditions stated in the franchise agreement.
