The Dry Cleaning Market
The dry cleaning industry in Australia
doesn’t experience the highs and lows
of a typical economical cycle. 80% of its
retail turnover is derived from only 20%
of the population. Our customers are
largely white collar workers,
professionals or high income individuals.
Our target market is consistent which
offers relative stability and security over
the short and long term.
The dry cleaning market is also well
positioned to experience continual
growth as it rides on the back of social
trends including ‘time poor’ consumers
seeking better lifestyles.
The latest IBIS World Report specifically
on the Dry Cleaning Industry in Australia
– November 2005 stated,
"There are now opportunities for
specialist niche services targeted to
particular customers, as well as
franchised/chain operators and
especially for drive-in/drive-out service
outlets".
In relation to the increased
environmental regulation within the dry
cleaning industry, the report also went
on to say,
"These regulations are likely to lead to a
significant reduction in operators in this
industry due to the costs of upgrading
equipment (and also the cost of using
alternative chemicals). Also it is
expected, according to industry sources,
that the industry will go back to a
number of outlets being serviced by
central dry cleaning plants, which meet
all the new regulatory requirements".
